Traditional manufacturing operations such as turning, drilling, shaping, and milling are difficult to use on extremely hard and brittle materials. When typical machining techniques aren't possible, satisfactory, or cost-effective, non-traditional manufacturing processes, also known as advanced manufacturing processes, are used. Using traditional machining methods, producing and processing parts with complex forms is difficult, time-consuming, and cost-prohibitive. To fulfil the extra machining conditions, a variety of non-traditional machining procedures have been created. When used correctly, these procedures provide a number of advantages versus non-traditional machining methods. NTM makes it simple to machine small cavities, slits, and non-circular, micro-sized, huge aspect ratio.

This book is compiled in such a manner, that it will provide in-depth knowledge about the theory and practice of non-traditional manufacturing processes. The main aim of the book is to familiarize students with the fundamental concepts and make them understand the primary techniques used in this field. The topics covered in this extensive book deal with abrasive jet machining, water jet machining, flow machining and ultrasonic machining. Further this book contains electrochemical machining, shaped-tube electrolytic machining and chemical machining process. It also deals with discharge machining, laser processing and plasma arc cutting. The various sub-fields along with technological progress that have future implications are glanced at in this book.
